BARNSLEY METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL ATHERSLEY COMMUNITY MOSAICS
I created five floor mosaics commissioned by Barnsley Council as part of a regeneration programme in the Athersley area. Five primary schools were involved in creating the heritage-linked designs featuring Kes (the novel is based in the area), the roundhouse (an iconic building), Athersley wood, WW1 commemoration and Wharncliffe Woodmoor mining disaster.
HULL CITY OF CULTURE 2017
I really enjoyed being part of Hull City of Culture 2017 'Fly to Freedom' project. During which over 100 mosaic birds were created and installed in the foyer to the railway station in September 2017. This collaborative British Association of Modern Mosaics (BAMM) North Region project was funded by the Big Lottery Fund. There are approx 25 BAMM North members, who created 50 birds. The remaining 50 birds were created in community workshops with a diverse range of participants and I was happy to run some of these workshops with Wansbeck Primary School.
A MOTH FOR AMY
My 3d mosaic moth ‘Aspire’ was commissioned by the NHS Commissioning Group and was installed in Bransholme South Health Centre, Goodhart Road, Bransholme , Kingston Upon Hull, HU7 4DW in 2016 and is on permanent display.
Here are some more details about the festival from the organisers: ‘It is a well-known fact that Amy Johnson flew a De Havilland Gipsy Moth plane on her solo flight to Australia. Inspired by this, we worked with sculptor Saffron Waghorn to create a wonderful giant Mother Moth. From here, 60 moth sculptures were hatched for a Moth Trail that will take you on a journey through Hull, the surrounding East Riding area and beyond!
Colourful and vibrant, each sculpture has been lovingly decorated with unique designs by artists from across the globe as well as local community groups.'

LARKIN WITH TOADS
Larkin with Toads was a large scale, mass participation public art event that populated Hull with enormous decorated toads for 10 weeks during the summer of 2010.
This formed part of the Larkin25 festival (www.larkin25.co.uk) celebrating the poem 'Toads'.
After the event my sponsors decided to purchase my mosaic toad during a charitable auction of the toads for permanent display outside Hull & East Riding Museum (36 High Street, Hull HU1 1NQ.)
